Hi Dee
We saw Dr S today, and the scan results are almost unbelievable. We are so relieved, to say the least.
Compared to Feb scan, all Dad’s bone metastases has been resolved (4 sites in total, his thigh, lower skull, neck, and spine). 10 out of 13 (I think) Lymph node sites have also been resolved. Only 1 has worsened mildly, and the other remains largely the same. We found one small new lymph node site, and there has been increased activity in the prostate (although not in size). But, lungs, liver etc appears to be fine.
Dr S was very happy with the results, so we are staying with the current mix, plus one other med. Dad is suffering from anemia and Dr S believes that his immune system has gone into "over drive" and is attacking his own red blood cells, so he has prescribed the same meds that are used for transplant patients. (I forget the name). But he confirmed that it wouldn’t dampen Dad’s overall immunity that appears to have been at play. This drug will also help Dad get off the steroids and has also been shown to work on prostate cancer. So it’s a good bet all round.
Anyway, I have to thank you again so very much. This to me seems to mark an improvement, which is not what we were expecting at all. I really hope that this is as good news as I think it is ...
All the very best,
Joanna
Mark’s father has some residual cells in the lungs following the last op which could not be picked up by the scan. So, we are definitely putting him on the same regime that Dad is on. We have already got him supplies, so what I will do is put aside the extra bottles, so that if you or anyone needs emergency supply, I will always have some at hand.
